soccer game>disco
we went to a soccer game on thrusday night. it was rennes against stuttgart germany, rennes lost in the last minute or so. we killed the other team the whole game and poof they scored right at the end. attached you will see some photos of the game. we sat in the supporters section which is where all the hooligans sat with flags and yelled and whatnot. the picture is of the two guys who were basically cheerleaders. they had microphones and instructed everyone on what chants and songs to sing. it was hilarious to say the least. these guys were so content with their work....smoking handrolled cigarettes and loving every second. afterwards we drank a bit and went to a huge disco (night club) they had two levels; the bottom was techno and up top was rap. on bottom there were multiple dance stages and a dance cage, lights, lasers, etc. it was crazy. there were kids dancing on/in the cage. pretty much everybody from my school was there because it was the 'hazing' day for the freshman. it was pretty cool. they made them all sit in this big amphitheater and listen to a couple of professors bullshit for like 45 minutes then everybody ran in there and took the kids to drink/scavenger hunt, etc. that being said, everybody from school was at the nightclub and acting a donkey. it was great.

the astros are going the the world series?
congratulations shelfer..sorry blake. let me just start by saying that. then let me add that i just read about wilma on google news... a true cat 5? thats unbelievable. For those of you not in the know LSU is ranked top 10 in the BCS so thats good to hear, but enough about america. France continues to impress me, the italians cooked some sort of a tart the other night that completely kicked ass. Last night i cooked fajitas for some friends and we drank one dollar a bottle wine. very fine. I am going to a soccer game tonight and i am very excited. Rennes vs Stuttgart. It should be a barnburner. The game starts at 6:15 we start tailgating at 5 or something. By tailgating i mean buying beer and taking the bus to the stadium where we will drink until the the game starts. Then we are going out. I havent really been updating my blog lately because my laptop is STILL in the shop, everytime i call to talk to the technician he's out of pocket... i wonder ahy my computer still isnt fixed... hmmm. Anywyay, more entries to come hopefully aith more pictures. Go see monty russell and logan and hauser.... make jimmy gaennaie start a band.

thursday
well its thursday, class at 8 and class at 6 awesome schedule. Everythings alright here, I am going to see the John Butler Trio this weekend. They are from the United States. France qualified for the World Cup last night, that was exciting. I am obligated to like soccer, its like being in canada.. your obligated to like hockey. But man, what I would do for a raging gameday. Ive been reading in the journals and papers over here that the U.S. press coverage of Bush has been more critical as of late and that his approval numbers are falling. Any such sentiments in Baton Rouge? I would like to hear about post hurricane campus life. We had basketball practice yesterday, since we're a polisci school, we will play against the other poli sci school when we have matches. I guess its a little like Divisions in NCAA. In any case those who can remember the golden days of Kappa Alpha White Man Basketball would have been proud. It was one of the palest run and gun games in the history of man...uncalled fouls were plentiful, action in the paint, the occasional horrific shot that miraculously falls..damn that is misspelled, but i cant recall how to spell it. All in all life is good. Im still waiting on a package that has been at customs in paris for about three weeks. Go see monty russell and hauser and logan.. make jimmy gaennaie start a band.

photos from normandie
faik, xavier, and i went to normandie. we went to the d-day museum and then further on to the beaches. I would strongly encourage any of yall to read the wiki article. it was a pretty amazing feat of human courage. The opening lines of Eisenhowers marching orders hit me hardest. "You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers in arms on other fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine; the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe; and security for ourselves in a free world. Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped, and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944. Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeat in open battle man to man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our home fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned. The free men of the world are marching together to victory. I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty, and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full victory. Good luck, and let us all beseech the blessings of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking."
