duck confit

ah yes, it was a nice and relaxing day in paris, for the first time since ive been here, we had great weather all day. i had a nice andouillete and some homemade french fries for lunch and then went to a bar and watched two rugby matches. i was tired, ready to get home, and when i got there jean-jacques and catherine were in the kitchen, heckyes. well we had some canteloupe as a starter, or entrée, and then.. well then mr daban had heated up an amazing duck confit that they got from their butcher and to accompany it.. some potatoes cooked and then heated up in the duck fat.. AIE! man, i've had a serious jones for some duck confit and with the potatoes it was over the top, and you know a playa had to sop up the duck fat with the crusty baguette! yayeah! then a nice nice simple salad, iceburg lettuce a shallot vinaigrette, some petit basque, and an apple. and to top it all off, somehow there is wireless internet in the bedroom.

sat night

saturday night and one more delicious big mac menu. the shock of how freakishly competitive the apartment market in paris is wearing off. i would like to think that ishmael would think of me as ahab, and the apartment, at an affordable price, is my white whale. the dabans continue to rock hard, last night we ate with mrs dabans mom for what is reffered to as the shabbat by mr daban, although he's not jewish, he likes to think of the meal that way. the night usually exists of an aperatif, a nice meal, and some wine, last night was no exception. xavier's grandmother is around mid 70s and is hilarious. she was asking me all about american movies that i liked and she told me that she really liked kevin spacey, and when i mentioned usual suspects she proceeded to act out the final scene where spacey gimps away and then regains his walk. it was awesome. im really getting sick of mcdonalds, i think ive eaten three big macs in the last week, thats more than i've ever eaten in my life before this trip. no bueno. i hope everybody's doing well, and those who went to tuck fulane, enjoy yourselves in the nolia clap.

friday afternoon

aie, the apartment hunt can be discouraging at best. yesterday i went to see an apartment, i got there an hour early and there were already fifteen people waiting to see it, about fifteen more showed up, and several people just saw the crowd and left. thursdays are the day to look for apartments, because thats when the new classifieds newspaper for rentals and sales comes out... ive had some luck, but haven't yet lost hope.
back at mcdonalds, hittin the mcwifi hard..
tonight i eat dinner with xav's parents and mr daban's grandmother. la classe. here is a picture of my adopted french parents who worry about me when i dont call and tell me to stay away from the edge of the platform when a train is coming because a druggie might push me in front of it. (that was mrs daban's advice, great advice when you think about it)

Paris.

well, here i am. at mcdonalds, using their free internet. i cant really bitch too much about mcdonalds at a moment like this. i am currently looking for an apartment (day 2 of the hunt) and i have some leads. so we'll see how it all turns out. besides that, ive been staying with the dabans, enjoying fine table wines and delicious french cheeses. yeah, my battery is almost dead because i neglected to bring over the proper converter, i brought the one that converts european plugs to american plugs (wtf?) so, when i get an apt and internet, and a power to my computer, things will be better, then i can regale you all with stories of homeless people accosting me in the subway. ha!

also, i have been informed of a certain "supercase" recently introuduced onto the market, to my beer drinking friends i say, enjoy.
